A brief update on KCB’s progress

We have been quiet for a while now, but not inactive. We have had four teleconferences since our last report and have been pursuing matters on several fronts:

  1. Confirming the ‘White’ postcodes that we can apply for funding for through the 30-day consultation process through CBS. This will result in an application going forward for funding on completion of a full tendering process.
  2. Seeking partners to either expand the range of (1) or create a project which will incorporate CBS funding but have a much wider scope. This is presently in discussion and we will report more fully as soon as we can.
  3. We have applied to BT’s Community Fibre project, which if successful will augment our ability to deliver connectivity to the community. At the moment the board is compiling a list of properties who we think will be outwith BT’s provision, despite the further tranche of funding they are receiving.
  4. We are expanding our contact with Government, Agencies and NGOs to seek a more rapid resolution to the problem of Rural connectivity.

Once we have confirmation of (1) we intend to move quickly and will update via website and newsletter as soon as possible.
